Snaplate helps you understand the nutrition of your meals from a photo. This notice explains what data is processed and how. Snaplate works without an account: there is no name, email, or sign-in.
When you scan a meal, the app sends the photo and a short analysis prompt to our backend on Amazon Web Services (AWS), which forwards it to Amazon Bedrock to run the AI model that identifies the food and estimates its nutrition. Processing happens in the United States.
Your scans, food items, and nutrition history are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to us. If you enable Apple Health, the meals you log are written to Apple Health on your device under your control; we never receive your Health data.
To provide the optional Snaplate Pro subscription (and credit top-ups) without an account, we store the minimum necessary:
| Data | Why | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Apple originalTransactionId | Identify your active subscription | Provided by Apple; not personal contact info |
A random app-generated UUID (appAccountToken) | Link your device to its subscription | Created on your device; contains no personal data |
| Usage counters (credits used, period start) | Enforce the free-scan and monthly credit allowances | Aggregate counts only |
We do not receive your Apple ID, name, email, or payment details — Apple handles billing.
If you submit feedback (e.g. thumbs up/down on a result), we send a small, anonymous event (rating, app version, device model, an item label) over an attested, signed channel. No photos are included.
To understand how Snaplate is used and to keep it fast and reliable, the app sends anonymous analytics events — for example which features you use, which screens you view, app launch and response times, and non-fatal errors or crash diagnostics. These events are tied only to a random, app-generated device identifier (not your name, email, or Apple ID) and are sent over an attested, signed channel to our backend on AWS (United States), where they are aggregated for our own product analytics. They include no photos and no personal information, and are never used for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites.
